What is the Headway app? Instaread Crunchbase

When examining a tool or service, most people immediately delve into what they like and don’t like. That’s an error, especially when looking at one of lots of services in a specific classification. In this case, book summaries. Instaread Crunchbase

The principle of a book summary itself has some specific benefits and downsides. Naturally, these will transfer to Blinkist and any other book summary service. You can’t actually blame a specific business for them.

Let’s first look at those, so we can much better determine the special pros and cons of Blinkist later.

Pros of checking out book summaries:.
You’ll skip all unneeded info. This is particularly valuable for books that just make one or a few assets. It also assists you prevent poor books entirely.
You can find out about more and different topics quicker. Instead of being stuck on one book about meditation for a month, you can check out a summary in a few minutes. You can leap to the next mindfulness book or a new topic altogether.
You’ll likely keep in mind more without taking notes. Considering that book summaries focus around realities and short methods to highlight them, you’ll likely come away from one summary with 3-5 things you’ll remember. If you read a complete book without keeping in mind, it’s difficult to correctly remember anything.
Cons of reading book summaries:.
You’ll lose the majority of the story and humor of the book. This is bad, due to the fact that it makes reading fun. Depending on just how much you get in touch with the story, it also assists you remember a lot, even if you might have to bear in mind.
You will miss out on big ideas and spontaneous insights from genuinely terrific books. The best books hit hard with every page. It’s impossible to transfer all of their knowledge into a summary. Some books you just have to read completely to get the most out of them.
Due to an absence of context, you might interpret realities the wrong way. Sometimes, a summary mentions a concept one way, whereas the context of the book sets it up in another. But since that context is now missing, you’re translating the concept differently and hence get an impression the author didn’t desire you to have.
You are now relying on not just the author of the book, but likewise whoever composed the summary. You lose if the summary author does a bad job. They may fail to consist of an essential story and so you will not remember an important fact.

Once again, these apply to all book summaries and the services that supply them. So with those in mind, let’s turn our attention to the Blinkist app user experience.

How does it feel to use the Blinkist app?

Downloading the app is totally free. When you open the app for the very first time, you’ll get a brief tutorial of how whatever works.

Among the first things you’ll discover is that the app only has three tabs for you to choose from:.

Discover. This is where you can explore their library and discover brand-new titles.
Library. Here, you’ll have access to your individual choice of books.
You. This is where your settings and conserved highlights are.

This is fantastic, because it makes navigating the app and selecting what to do really simple. Let’s take a look at the specific tabs.

Blinkist very heavily promoted at me, so I decided to give it a go. Blinkist is an app that has lots of features, they have audio books, they have podcasts and initial content, but the primary selling point, the thing that they market, the thing that makes them different from other audiobook apps, is that they declare they can give you the main points of any non-fiction book in 15 minutes. Essentially, they are advertising themselves as an alternative to checking out books or listening to complete audio books by, and I estimate here from their site: “Listen or check out to the key concepts from best-selling nonfiction titles in 15 minutes” So the concept is that you get their app, you register for it, and you can listen to as lots of books as possible that are condensed to 15 minutes, and they declare that you will still get the key concepts and an understanding of what the book has to do with.

I was dubious, I am a reader and even though I do not read much non-fiction, given that I much prefer checking out fiction, I do check out some of it, some of the books that I saw advertised on Blinkist as 15-minute summaries, I simply might not think of being condensable into 15 minutes. Since we are talking about some actually huge books, about heavy, complex concepts that I just didn’t think you can squeeze into 15 minutes. Okay, so I have actually got the Blinkist app in the Google Play Shop and I’m going to install that. Instaread Crunchbase
